Magnum Symposium Focuses on Innovative Storytelling
The third annual Magnum symposium, Photography, Expanded, is taking place Sunday, November 1, in New York City. Co-presented with the photography department of Parsons, the New School for Design, the one-day event will present innovative documentary storytelling, as well as emerging ideas in digital media and journalism.
Presentations and panel discussions will feature such photographers and filmmakers as Andrew Beck Grace, who produced the film After the Storm, about the fourth anniversary of a tornado that ripped through Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Katy Scoggin, the cinematographer for Citizenfour; and Elaine Sheldon and Sarah Ginsburg, the creators of She Does Podcast, which focuses on women working at the intersection of media, film, journalism, art, and technology. Photography, Expanded is dedicated to inspiring documentary photographers to expand their storytelling beyond the still image.
