Finding Vivian Maier
One of the richest photographic discoveries in recent years is certainly the trove of Vivian Maier, the elusive Chicago nanny and street photographer who took more than 100,000 photographs. Her self-portraits are currently on view at Howard Greenberg Gallery, and her photographs have been the subject of many exhibitions, articles, and books, including Vivian Maier: Street Photographer, and Vivian Maier: Self-Portraits (both published by PowerHouse). And now there is a film, Finding Vivian Maier, directed by John Maloof, who discovered her photographs, and Charlie Siskel. The film premieres at the DOC NYC’s SVA Theater on Sunday, November 17, at 7 pm, followed by a Q & A moderated by documentary film director Michael Moore.
