Symposium on 150th Anniversary of the Civil War

Two exhibitions currently on view in New Orleans are commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War: Occupy New Orleans! Voices from the Civil War (through March 9) and Civil War Battlefields and National Parks: Photographs by A.J. Meek (through April 5) are on view at the Historic New Orleans Collection

In conjunction with the exhibition, the annual Williams Research Center Symposium is scheduled for January 25. Registration is now open for the symposium, Home Front, Battlefront: Louisiana in the Civil War, which is bringing together eight scholars including Jeff Rosenheim, curator of photography at the Metropolitan Museum of Art  who organized the expansive exhibition Photography and the American Civil War, which closed in September.
