Roxana Marcoci has been named senior curator of photography at the Museum of Modern Art. Marcoci, who joined the museum in 1999 as the Janice H. Levin Fellow / Curatorial Assistant in the painting and sculpture department, joined the photography department in 2003.
Marcoci organized the Thomas Demand retrospective at MoMA in 2005, Taryn Simon: A Living Man Declared Dead and Other Chapters I-XVIII in 2012, and, with Eva Respini, Staging Action: Performance in Photography Since 1960 in 2011, among many other exhibitions. Most recently, she curated New Photography 13: Adam Bromberg and Oliver Chanarin, Brendan Fowler, Annette Kelm, Lisa Oppenheim, Anna Ostoya, Josephine Pryde, Eileen Quinlan (on view through January 6, 2014). Marcoci is currently working on the retrospective exhibition Christopher Williams: The Production Line of Happiness (2014).
