The Queens Museum reopens on November 9 after seven years of renovations, and one of the inaugural exhibition in the new space is New York City Building Time Lapse, 2009-2013: Photographs by Jeff Chien-Hsing Liao. The Taiwan-born, Queens-based photographer was in residence at the museum for the duration of the renovation, capturing the transformation of the building – the only remaining building from the 1939-40 World’s Fair — in large-scale color photographs. Liao takes multiple exposures of the same site over the course of several hours or days, then layers the negatives into one detail-filled, time-travelling image.
