Lisa Hostetler to Eastman House

The George Eastman House in Rochester, NY, has a new curator of photography: Lisa Hostetler, currently the McEvoy Family Curator of Photography at the Smithsonian American Art Museum.  Hostetler was curator of photography at the Milwaukee Art Museum for seven years; while there, she curated Color Rush: 75 Years of Color Photography in America and Taryn Simon: Photographs and Texts, which toured internationally.

Before her position in Milwaukee, Hostetler was a research associate in the photography department at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She earned a BA in art history from NYU and a masters and Ph.D. from Princeton University, where she studied with Peter Bunnell.
